I was honored to speak at a high school graduation this past week. I wanted to share some of the message for that event with you. In this life, just like the children of Israel, we will need to leave Egypt (our present, perhaps comfortable situation) in order to step out into a new chapter or calling that God has placed in front of us. You see, God promised the children of Israel a land of their very own–a land “flowing with milk and honey” where they would be free to worship God Almighty. God has also promised you destiny and a place where you are free to worship Him in spirit and in truth. He has a kingdom work and position for you!
Here is some advice that I have found helpful in my own walk as I am conquering and inhabiting my promised land:
1. Conquering your promised land is most of the time done one situation at a time on a day to day basis. If you get up everyday and ask the Lord for His perfect will in that day, it makes up a lifetime of living in His perfect will for your life!
2. Your promised land isn’t just for you. When Paul and Silas where in prison in chains, at midnight they were praying and singing praise songs. The other prisoners were listening and when the jail was shaken and the chains of Paul and Silas were loosed, it says that all the other prison doors were opened too! (Acts 16:24-26) People around you are watching and at times your freedom will bring them freedom. We are overcomers by the word of our testimony and others will overcome the same issues because they will have seen you make it through victoriously ahead of them.
3. Remember to drive out anything that would threaten to steal your promise or cause you to turn your eyes from God.
God told the children of Israel to drive out the people who were currently inhabiting the land because they were wicked and they would cause the children of Israel to turn their eyes from God. Sure enough, they let some of the current inhabitants stay and they swayed the children of Israel to turn from God. (Judges 2:3)
4. Remember that what God is doing in the supernatural is more real than anything you can see going on in the natural. (2 Kings 6:17)
You have everything you need to succeed! God is for you and with Him nothing shall be impossible for you!
Promised Land or Bust!
